TIPS AND RITUALS

The importance of hair hydration in summer

This is nothing new to anyone. If taking care of your hair is essential regardless of season, in summer it becomes even more essential.

With trips to the beach, swimming in the pool and days of intense sun and heat, our hair is exposed to several external aggressions. Sand, sea salt, pool chlorine, wind, pollution, UV rays. This list goes on, and without the proper care and attention you're likely to end this season with drier, duller and more brittle hair.

In this article, find out how you can maintain the health and hydration of your hair strands during summer.

Why is it essential to moisturize your hair?

Firstly, because it replaces moisture and nutrients. Exposure to external aggressions, as well as the frequent use of a hairdryer or flat/curling iron, will devitalize, dry out and damage your hair. An adequate hydration will restore the water content lost.

Subsequently, correct and effective hydration will restore the hair's elasticity, making both hair loss and the formation of split ends less likely. Furthermore, this will help seal the hair cuticles, reducing hair frizz and the loss of water and essential nutrients, thus providing more shine and softness.

Finally, regular hair hydration will not only repair the strands, but also the scalp. A properly cared for scalp is more likely to not become irritated or flaky, thus allowing healthy hair growth.

How to hydrate correctly?

An effective daily hair routine is essential not only to return the necessary nutrients to your hair, but also to prevent future damage. Having healthy, shiny and smooth hair is not difficult, as long as your treatment is the correct one.

Keep in mind these key steps:

  • Use only the appropriate products in your routine, taking into account your hair type and condition. For more intense hydration and nutrition, look for ingredients that are highly nutritious and intensively repairing;
  • Clean thoroughly, using a shampoo that washes effectively, to remove all dirt or traces of sand, salt and/or chlorine;
  • Hydration, hydration, hydration. Use a conditioner specifically created for this purpose and a good moisturizing mask, 1-3 times a week. This is essential to deeply nourish your hair, restoring its vitality and softness. You can also massage your scalp with a specific serum, while you are waiting for the mask to work on your hair – this motion will stimulate blood circulation, helping to restore hair health in this area;
  • At the end, always rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water to ensure no residue is left behind;
  • During the day, and especially when you spend a considerable amount of time in the sun, you can apply a good thermal water to replenish lost hydration and a UV ray protector, to reinforce hair protection;
  • Food is also a key element in this process. Knowing that care starts from the inside out, include foods rich in proteins, amino acids and omegas-3 and 6 in your diet. Drinking plenty of water is also crucial, as this is the first step to ensuring hydration of your body, skin and hair.

Remember:

Keeping your hair hydrated during the summer, with a proper and careful routine, is crucial to preserving its vitality and ensuring essential nutrients for good growth and health.
